What's New for 2026
The 2026 RAV4 is hybrid-only across all seven grades. Toyota grouped the lineup into three design categories — Core (LE, XLE Premium, Limited), Rugged (Woodland), and Sport (SE, XSE, GR SPORT) — giving shoppers more ways to match the RAV4 to how they actually drive.
Key Updates
- Hybrid-only lineup. The standard 5th-generation Toyota Hybrid System produces 226 horsepower (FWD) or 236 horsepower (AWD).
- New plug-in hybrid powertrain. The 6th-gen PHEV system delivers 324 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 54-mile all-electric range (SE grade).
- Fuel economy gains. The LE FWD Hybrid earns an EPA-estimated 47 city / 40 highway / 43 combined MPG.1

Hybrid Efficiency
Every 2026 RAV4 is electrified. The standard Hybrid uses Toyota's 5th-generation hybrid system: a 2.5L inline-four engine paired with two motor-generators through a planetary-type electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT). The result is more power and better fuel economy than the outgoing model.

The 6th-generation Plug-in Hybrid pushes things further. The SE PHEV grade earns an EPA-estimated 54-mile all-electric driving range and a 41 MPG combined hybrid rating1 — with 324 net combined horsepower when you want it.
Towing & Capability
If you tow, the 2026 RAV4 has options. The LE is rated for 1,750 pounds (AWD). XLE Premium and above step up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.3 Ground clearance ranges from 7.5 inches on the GR SPORT to 8.5 inches on the Woodland.
Technology & Connectivity
Every 2026 RAV4 includes a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and the newest version of Toyota Audio Multimedia — Toyota's first integration of AT&T 5G network connectivity. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard on every trim. Higher grades step up to a 12.9-inch touchscreen with available 9-speaker JBL premium audio (Limited) and a head-up display (Limited and XSE PHEV).
