2027 Toyota C-HR MPG: MPGe, Range, and Charging Explained
2027 Toyota C-HR MPG: MPGe, Range, and Charging Explained
The 2027 Toyota C-HR does not use gasoline, so it does not carry a traditional MPG rating. As a battery-electric SUV, it is rated in Miles Per Gallon Equivalent (MPGe). The SE is estimated at 117 MPGe combined with an estimated 287 miles of range, and the XSE is estimated at 112 MPGe combined with an estimated 273 miles. See how efficiency fits the bigger picture in our 2027 Toyota C-HR overview.

2027 C-HR MPGe Ratings and Driving Range by Trim
SE vs. XSE efficiency
The 14-mile range difference comes from wheel size: 18-inch wheels on the SE and 20-inch gunmetal-finished wheels on the XSE. The MPGe figures are the EPA ratings for the mechanically identical 2026 C-HR, and Toyota lists the 2027 range figures as manufacturer estimates.
Estimated MPGe and Range
| Grade | Est. City MPGe | Est. Highway MPGe | Est. Combined MPGe | Est. Range | Wheels |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SE | 127 | 107 | 117 | 287 miles | 18-inch |
| XSE | 122 | 102 | 112 | 273 miles | 20-inch |

Battery and Charging
74.7-kWh battery and NACS port
Every C-HR uses a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery mounted under the floor and an 11-kW onboard AC charger.
- A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port works with Tesla Superchargers without an adapter, and Toyota includes adapters for J1772 Level 1/Level 2 chargers and CCS1 DC fast chargers.
- A dual-voltage charging cable for 120V and 240V charging is included.
- Plug & Charge streamlines sessions at supported networks (requires an active Remote Connect trial or subscription).
- Battery Preconditioning brings the battery to an optimal temperature for DC fast charging, and it runs automatically when you navigate to a fast charger with an active Drive Connect trial or subscription.
Estimated Charging Times
| Charging Method | Power Source | Toyota Estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 120V at 12A | About 60 hours (10%–100%) |
| Level 2 | 240V at 48A / 11 kW | About 7 hours (10%–100%) |
| DC fast charging | NACS DC fast charger | Around 30 minutes (10%–80%, ideal conditions) |
Charging estimates are published in the Toyota C-HR FAQ. The Electric Vehicle Driving Components, including the traction battery, are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Gas C-HR vs. Electric C-HR
How the C-HR has changed
The last gas-powered C-HR sold in the U.S. used a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 144 horsepower, a CVT and front-wheel drive, with EPA ratings of 27 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined. The C-HR returned for 2026 as a battery-electric vehicle, and the 2027 carries that design forward unchanged. Without an engine, the electric C-HR needs no oil changes, spark plugs or drive belts.
Last Gas C-HR vs. 2027 C-HR SE
| Specification | Last Gas C-HR | 2027 C-HR SE |
|---|---|---|
| Powertrain | 2.0L 4-cylinder gas | Dual-motor electric |
| Drivetrain | Front-wheel drive | Standard all-wheel drive |
| Horsepower | 144 hp | 338 hp |
| Transmission | CVT | 1-speed automatic |
| Efficiency | EPA-estimated 29 mpg combined | Estimated 117 MPGe combined |

What Affects Real-World Range
Speed, climate and driving habits
Real-world range varies with speed, outside temperature, accessory use, how and where you drive, and charging habits. Aerodynamic drag rises at highway speeds, while in city driving regenerative braking recovers energy when slowing, and the steering-wheel paddles offer four regen levels. Temperature matters in both directions: AAA testing found average range fell 41% at 20°F with cabin heat in use and 17% at 95°F with air conditioning on. To maximize range, keep highway speeds steady and precondition the cabin while still plugged in.

Common Questions About 2027 Toyota C-HR Efficiency
Does the 2027 Toyota C-HR require a specialized home charger?
The included dual-voltage cable supports Level 1 and Level 2 charging. For regular home charging, a 240V Level 2 source that delivers 11 kW charges the battery from 10% to 100% in about 7 hours.
Can the 2027 C-HR use Tesla Supercharger stations?
Yes. The standard NACS port connects to compatible NACS fast chargers, including Tesla Superchargers, without an adapter.
What warranty and maintenance coverage comes with the C-HR?
Toyota provides a 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty, a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and 8-year/100,000-mile coverage for the Electric Vehicle Driving Components, including the traction battery. For 2027, ToyotaCare covers factory-scheduled maintenance for 1 year or 10,000 miles, plus 3 years of Roadside Assistance.
Does the 2027 C-HR qualify for a federal tax credit?
Federal clean vehicle credits under IRC Section 30D ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. See our trims and pricing guide for details.
