For well over two decades, the humble Toyota Camry has been the sensible, easy choice for a mid-size family sedan, and the sales numbers back it up. For an unprecedented fifteen-year streak, the Toyota Camry has been the best-selling car in the United States. Can you improve upon such a well-regarded and well-loved machine? Toyota is banking on their ability to do just that and, for the 2018 model year, they’ve gone through and totally redesigned the Toyota Camry.

The changes are so extensive that the only thing the new Camry shares with the 2017 Camry is the Toyota badge on the front grille and the rear trunk lid. The Toyota dealers of Los Angeles are excited to start stocking this car on their lot, as they know car buyers will love this new Toyota Camry just as much as the ones of years past. If you’re curious about what’s changed and gone into making this new Camry the best one yet, then read on and find out.

Game Changer

Toyota and the Toyota Camry didn’t rise to the top of the heap of the automobile market accidentally. The mid-size Camry has had a lot of thought, consideration, and design put into it over the years, with Toyota anticipating what customers want, and what customers don’t even know they need, and delivering it all in an affordable yet stylish package.

This is how they’ve put out the most popular car for so many years running: By staying on top of the current technology and making sure to combine it with expert and cutting edge styling, offering something that is wondrously thrilling, while still being comfortable and secure.

For 2018, the all-new and redesigned Toyota Camry is a game changer. While still being the dependable, sensible car that Camry buyers and Toyota fans have come to know and love, Toyota has included cutting-edge technology, some of which is an industry first.

This new 2018 Toyota Camry does everything that people expect out of the amazingly popular mid-size car, while still bringing new tricks to the table and without sacrificing anything that has made the Camry so great in the previous model years. Buyers of this new model can expect the same great features, along with more power, efficiency, technology, and comfort.

What’s New

Toyota’s Safety Sense system has existed for a while—an integrated suite of electronic systems designed to work with both the car and the driver to help prevent three key areas of accidents. The technology combines millimeter-wave radar and in-vehicle cameras to help mitigate and prevent frontal collisions, assist drivers with staying in their lane, and enhance visibility and safety when driving at night.

Usually, the full suite of these additions has only been available with the addition of a technology or safety package or by upgrading and buying a higher trim level. Well, for the 2018 Toyota Camry, Toyota has made the Toyota Safety Sense system standard equipment for all trim levels, giving you unparalleled safety and security no matter which version of the Camry you choose!

Another technological advancement on the new 2018 Toyota Camry is the Entune 3.0 infotainment system. Not only is this the first time the Toyota Camry will be equipped with this system, it’s the first time any Toyota at all will be equipped with it!

Not only will the Entune 3.0 system offer wireless internet connectivity through up to five devices through a partnership with Verizon, the software for the Linux-based operating system is being released as open-source. This will allow 3rd party developers to create applications and programs that work with your car, giving the 2018 Toyota Camry unprecedented accessibility and functionality.

Fuel Efficiency

The new 2018 Toyota Camry is also more fuel efficient than any other Camry before it, and most other cars in its class. You have your choice of three different engines: a 4-cylinder, a 6-cylinder, and a 4-cylinder hybrid electric model. The 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine comes standard on all trims and puts out an impressive 206 horsepower, with 186-foot-pounds of torque. Despite this power, it still manages to get a staggering 29 miles per gallon in the city, and 41 on the highway.

If power is what you’re after, then the optional 3.5-liter V6 will give you a commanding and thrilling 301 horsepower, while still managing to get a wallet-friendly 22 miles per gallon in the city and 33 on the highway. Compare this to the last model Camry’s inline 4-cylinder engine, which was rated at 24 and 33 miles per gallon, and it’s fairly obvious to see that the engineers and designers at Toyota really put a lot of work into increasing the overall efficiency of the car!

If that’s not enough for you, there’s always the hybrid version of the 2018 Toyota Camry. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is available in three trims: the LE, SE, and XLE. The LE uses a lithium-ion battery and achieves 51 miles per gallon city and 53 highway. The SE and XLE both use a nickel-metal hydride battery and get as much as 44 miles per gallon city and 47 on the highway.

The last model year of the Toyota Camry hybrid was only rated for as much as 38 miles per gallon on the highway, so, once again, the engineers at Toyota put a lot of work into making sure this Camry was as efficient as possible.

Trims

Five trim levels are available for the new 2018 Toyota Camry: the base model L, the LE, SE, the XLE, and the XSE. All come standard with the previously mentioned 2.5-liter I4 engine, and only the XLE and XSE are available with the optional 3.5-liter V6 engine. The L comes with LED headlights and taillights, interior wood paneled styling, an acoustic windshield, and, of course, Toyota’s Safety Sense system.

The next step up, the LE, comes with larger wheels, a power front seat, and a folding rear seat with overhead console. With the SE comes automated climate control, a 4.2-inch infotainment system with the Entune 3.0 software, a sporty interior with seats and a steering wheel, and blacked out exterior trim.

For the XLE, Toyota focused on more of a luxury feel, adding more wood trim and dual-zone climate control air conditioning, along with a heads-up display, heated seats, keyless entry, and chrome trim and exterior accents.

The XSE combines the luxury with sportiness, ditching the chrome in favor of blacked out trim, and also adding larger wheels and a dual exhaust.

Good Value

One reason drivers love the Toyota Camry is the fact that you get an incredible amount of car for the value—something that Toyota has kept up for the 2018 model year. With the standard inline 4 engine, each trim level of the new Camry, including the luxurious XLE and XSE or the efficient and economical LE and SE Hybrids, cost well under $30,000. The optional V6 and hybrid are slightly more expensive, but the XLE, XSE V6, and the XLE Hybrid can each be had for under $35,000.
