When you think about test driving a new vehicle, it is likely that you will head to your local Los Angeles Toyota dealer. Professional reviewers are often approached to do a test drive and review a new vehicle. When Jeremy Korzeniewski got the chance to test drive the brand new 2016 Toyota Tacoma, he really put it through its paces.  His review on Autoblog includes his thoughts as well as a video. While both the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon are a source of competition, Toyota has been king of the hill in mid-size trucks for the past 10 years. With the new Tacoma being released, this crown doesn’t look to be changing in the near future.

While it’s not available just yet, it won’t be long until this new model is available on Toyota dealers’ lots. Let’s take a look at what consumers can expect from this brand new vehicle.

Off Road Specific Technology

Imagine sitting at a 40-degree upward angle and needing to move forward. Typically this would involve a bit of stress and worry as you attempt to keep firm and even pressure on the gas pedal. In the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, you can roll through that stress-free. All you have to do is press a button, and your truck will crawl up, over, around, and through any obstacle you encounter. All you have to do is control the steering wheel.

Under the Hood Changes

While there have been many small changes made in the Tacoma for 2016, the biggest change is under the hood. Instead of the 4.0 liter unit, the Tacoma now features a 3.5 liter V6 with 278 horsepower and 265 pounds of torque.  Technology plays a big part in this new engine. The Variable Valve Timing with Intelligent Wider Intake, port, and direct fuel injection work to help improve efficiency at times when the truck doesn’t need to pull on full power. Six speed automatic and manual transmissions will also be offered.

Wide Variety of New Options

When you include all the engine changes and options, and add in drivelines, and different cab and body styles, you’ll have 29 unique configurations to choose from. Depending on your plans for how you are going to use your 2016 Tacoma, you may want to get the longer 73.7 inch bed.  Convenience is the name of the game with lightweight composite material for the deck and side walls, deck rail system with 4 tie-downs, damped tailgate, and an external AC power adaptor near the tailgate. Toyota has also added more high-strength steel to the frame and body shell of this truck, making it durable and lighter.

If you are in the market for a new mid-size truck, Los Angeles Toyota dealers, such as North Hollywood Toyota, will be the place to go in order to test drive the new 2016 Toyota Tacoma. The general consensus is that Toyota will remain top of the heap of mid-sized trucks, based on size, features, and price. You can join the ranks of proud Toyota owners, with a brand new Tacoma when they hit the dealer lots in just a few months.
