As the summer sets in, there is a great deal of excitement about the new model year for vehicles coming up soon. Car dealerships in Los Angeles are rotating stock and getting ready for new models to arrive. While announcements and sneak peeks have already shown consumers and dealers what to expect from the 2016 Toyota models, there may be a secret development underway for 2017 or a later year. The growth and success that Toyota has found in the past few years have many looking forward to what is coming next.
Trademarks Are Important for Carmakers
When a carmaker registers a name for trademark, no-one knows for sure exactly what the plans are for that name. This leads to a lot of guessing and amateur sleuthing to see what can be found. Toyota registered a new trademark in March under “automobiles and structural parts thereof.” So does this mean the name “Prius Prime” is a whole new Prius hybrid, or some sort of proprietary hybrid or technology system for the Prius line? The fact is, no one knows. All that has been published is that Toyota now holds the trademark on Prius Prime. Considering the modern movie releases, this may remind many consumers of The Transformers and Optimus Prime. This is definitely a catchy name for the Prius line, whether it’s a new vehicle or not.
Many trademarks are registered but never make it into production as new models, while others are registered to replace existing model names.
What Are the Possibilities?
There is a shroud of secrecy around new models and concept vehicles, which means that, really, unless there is some kind of leak, the Prius Prime will not be anything consumers will hear about until Toyota is ready for us to know. Keep in mind that automakers often register brand names “just in case” they decide to use them in the future, and that plans can change. Keep your eyes peeled for information regarding the Prius Prime, but, then again, don’t hold your breath, because it may be something … or it may be nothing.
Your local Los Angeles Toyota dealer, North Hollywood Toyota, will be among the first to know about and feature new Toyota models. So, if there is a Prius Prime released, you will be able to check it out and see whether it is the type of vehicle you are looking for.
