If you’re looking into a new car, whether it’s for yourself or for your family, then there’s no doubt that you’re concerned with safety. Modern life requires more driving than it ever has before, so a car’s performance in an accident should be a big priority when it comes to making a purchase decision.

More than that, as well, you shouldn’t have to pay a premium for safety. The choic e between your life and wellbeing and your pocketbook is not one you should ever have to make, and Toyota understands this better than other auto manufacturers. That’s why Toyota has added sophisticated automatic emergency braking systems to three of its basic model vehicles, meaning that you’ll be protected securely no matter what your budget is.

The Toyota Avalon, Toyota Corolla, and Toyota Prius all come standard with automatic emergency braking, and they’re available now at your Toyota North Hollywood dealership.

Included standard on these three cars is Toyota’s suite of electronic safety features, called the Toyota Safety Sense-P, or TSS-P. These active safety features use a whole suite of sensors in and around the car to collect data from its surroundings, constantly monitoring for unsafe conditions. The safety features of the system include the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, and Lane Departure with Steering Assist.

The Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection is one of the most important systems, and what gives Toyota vehicles such a good rating with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. By using an in-vehicle camera to detect what’s in front of the car, the system may apply the brakes in the event it senses a frontal collision is likely. This can help mitigate or even prevent a front-end collision with another car or pedestrian.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is like constant-speed cruise control, except much better. Utilizing a front grille-mounted radar system, this system will automatically adjust your speed so that you maintain a preset distance between you and the car in front of you. In other words, it slows you down when the car ahead slows down and speeds you up when traffic picks up again, all without you having to ride the brakes or constantly turn cruise control off and back on.

Automatic High Beams can sense when a car is approaching from the opposite lane of traffic and will automatically switch high beams on and off as appropriate. This gives you superior night vision without the risk of blinding oncoming traffic.

And, finally, Lane Departure Assist with Steering Alert will issue a warning when your car drifts out of traffic and will even automatically perform gentle steering corrections to keep you centered in your lane.

All of these programs work together to make Toyotas some of the safest cars available on the road, even when you’re buying the entry level model.
